Keep Pearl Beautiful wants residents’ old shoes.
As part of their ShoeBox Recycling program, the organization collects all gently worn, paired men’s, women’s and kid’s shoes that are still reusable and rewearable. The shoes are recycled or reused all across the world.
All shoes are accepted, provided they have no holes in the soles and aren’t wet, mildewed or torn. Athletic shoes, dress shoes, casual shoes, work boots, sandals, heels and flats are all welcomed.
Ski boots, winter boots, roller skates, ice skates, roller blades, flip flops, crocs, bedroom slippers and single shoes are not eligible to be a part of the recycling program.
All shoes can be dropped off at the Pearl Parks and Recreation Department, located at 320 Center City Drive, from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on weekdays.
