Richland celebrates holiday season, with minor adjustments

The Richland Community Center is currently accepting vendor applications for their seventh annual Totally Locally Christmas Market, scheduled for Saturday, December 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Christmas themed merchandise is on high demand, but arts, crafts and boutique shopping items are also welcome at the market. No direct sales or flea market items are allowed.

Applications are available on request, by calling the community center at 601-420-3400 or direct messaging them on the Totally Locally Christmas Market Facebook page. The space for the market can accommodate up to fifty-five displays, and applications will be accepted as long as space remains available.

The cost for a single display, which can include up to two booths, is $50. The space available for each vendor is approximately 10 foot by 10 foot, and the community center will provide one table and chair per booth. Free standing props are allowed, but no banners or other items may be hung, taped or pinned to the walls. Peg boards, racks and shelving units are also allowed at the market, but not provided. Electricity is available on a first come, first serve basis.

This year, sanitizing stations will be available throughout the Richland Community Center building. Wearing masks for this years' event is also encouraged. Contact Terri Wood with the City of Richland at 601-420-3401 for vendor information or direct message the City on Facebook. This year’s event is sponsored by the City of Richland and the Richland Economic Development Association [REDA], and they encourage everyone to shop local.

The Richland Community Center is also accepting applications for participants in the 2020 Christmas Parade, scheduled for Saturday, December 12, at 5 p.m.

The theme for 2020 is "Peace on Earth."

The center encourages businesses, clubs, schools, non-profit organizations as well as churches to participate. Awards will be given to parade floats with: best use of a theme, best overall float and best group presentation.

Parade applications as well as details on the parade route are available at the Richland Community Center or online at www.richlandms.org.

Applicants may mail, email or drop off completed forms to the attention of Kristina Jordan, Christmas Parade, 410 East Harper Street, Richland, MS 39218. For further information, call 601-420- 3400.
