Rankin County Criminal Interdiction Team Seizes 115 pounds of Marijuana on Interstate 20

On Thursday May 10, at approximately 2 p.m. Rankin County Interstate Interdiction Task Force Deputy Decell conducted a stop on a 2004 Cadillac S.U.V. on Interstate 20 in Rankin County for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop the deputy suspected the vehicle was transporting drugs and/or contraband. Rankin County Sheriff’s Department Canine, “Fox”, alerted on the vehicle indicating narcotics were inside. A search of the vehicle revealed 115 pounds of marijuana concealed in three cardboard boxes in the cargo area. Lieutenant Paul Mullins along with other members of the Criminal Interdiction Team assisted with the arrest. The driver Joshua GONZALES was placed under arrest for trafficking of Marijuana and transported to the Rankin County Jail. District Attorney Michael Guest will bring Joshua GONZALES before Rankin County Court Judge Kent McDaniel for an initial appearance. No Bond has been set at this time. This investigation is continuing with the Office of Homeland Security.
