Libraries get new managers

Two Central Mississippi Regional Library System (CMRLS) libraries in SW Rankin County have new branch managers. Each will now serve their home towns. Morgan Lee moved from the Florence Library to become branch manager at the Pearl Library, and Jill Owens Hodges is now the Florence Library branch manager.

Lee is a Pearl native who was formerly an elementary librarian in Leland, Mississippi and a high school English teacher at Provine High School in Jackson. The graduate in public relations at the University of Alabama also has a master’s degree in library science from the University of Southern Mississippi.

The third generation Pearl High School graduate is the daughter of Mark and Angela Lee and granddaughter of Donald and Glenna Dennis of Pearl. She supervises a 12-person staff including Carolyn Anderson, circulation supervisor, Amy Lee, reference supervisor, and Kristen Hillman, children’s supervisor.

Lee enjoys meeting people and learning new things. Her favorite authors are Stephen King and Ian McEwan.

Hodges, a Florence native, became the Florence Library’s branch manager June 1 after working at the library for almost four years. A graduate of Florence High School, she said she most enjoys interacting with her patrons. She likes to hear what they are reading.

She and her husband, Steve, have two sons, Tyler, 20, and Jacob, 16, a junior at Florence

High School. Tyler and Courtney have Waylon, a six-month old.

She works with Crystal Keene, children’s specialist, and Zoerean Neal, circulation clerk.
