Recently the Richland-Florence Garden Club held their monthly meeting at the Richland Community Center. Hostesses for the brunch were Shirley Wilson, Rowan Craft, Debbie Knight and Doris McBride. Marcie Luckett from Wild Birds Unlimited visited with the group to talk about the behavior and habitat of bluebirds. Among the items discussed were the following: bluebird houses should face east; the male bluebird scouts the house but the female has to approve; after choosing their house they will leave for a three day “honeymoon” period before returning and building their nest and both the male and female feed their young every twenty-one minutes.
The Richland-Florence Garden Club is federated with the Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc., a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. and the Natchez Trace District.
