The 2022 Gem, Mineral, Fossil, and Jewelry Show will once again be held at the trademark in Jackson after a year's hiatus. Beginning on Friday, February 26, and running through Sunday, February 28, the family-friendly event promises to provide something for every interest. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 28. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for students. Scouts and Scout leaders in uniform get $2 admission. Children ages five and younger get in free.
In the past, the show has featured museum displays, hands-on crafts, and learning activities for children. Vendors from around the country will sell fossils, gems, and jewelry for those who want to take home a piece of the past or shop for sparkle. The large market offers for sale fossils, gems, geodes, and minerals ranging from tiny fish fossils to cathedral amethyst. A broad range of jewelry, from fine jewelry to children’s trinkets, will be offered. Lapidary enthusiasts and jewelry artisans can find gems, beads, cabs, slabs, stones, specimens, carvings, books, and tools.
Jewelry artists will demonstrate techniques in beading, wire wrapping, gem faceting, cabochon making, and other stonework throughout the show.
The Mississippi Gem and Mineral Society (MGMS) was originally charted in 1958 as a non-profit, educational organization to promote the knowledge and the enjoyment of activities related to the earth sciences. Their activities focus on rocks, minerals, fossils, jewelry making, and lapidary arts.
