Florence High School's JROTC Battalion Trip to Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Site

On March 6, Florence High School’s JROTC battalion took a field trip to the Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Site. Cadets were given a tank demonstration, courtesy of the Camp Shelby soldiers, and had the opportunity to get inside some of the latest armored vehicles in the Army inventory. The cadets also visited the Mississippi Armed Forces museum where they were able to see older generation tanks and aircraft that were on display. They also viewed items from previous historic battles dating from the Revolutionary War up to the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The battalion field trip was an excellent opportunity for cadets to understand and appreciate the history of the United States soldiers and what they have done for us.
