CMC 7v7 Classic

The First Annual Central Mississippi 7v7 Classic, hosted by Richland High School Boys’ soccer team, is scheduled to kick-off Monday, June 14, at the Richland Community Center Soccer Fields. This event is open to any and all junior high, high school, club soccer and adult teams interested in competing in 7v7 soccer games.

The event was originally imagined by The Richland boys soccer coaches, Coach Corey Myers and Coach John Adams as a way to“ continue to grow our soccer program.” Myers says locale played a part in the planning as well, “The city of Richland, being centrally located on Highway 49, is a great location for teams from all surrounding areas, as well as northern and southern cities, to meet centrally and play teams they may not normally play.”

However, it is not only physical location that makes the City of Richland a prime spot for this type of competition, it is also about the people,“Richland is a community that cares deeply about soccer. We have awesome support for our soccer program from the Richland Parks and Rec department as they are allowing us to use their fields,” says Myers.

Organized by The Richland Soccer Program and Richland High parents, the event also offers a unique opportunity to provide competitive summer soccer matches for local school and club teams in preparation for the upcoming school season.

Each team will play three games and go on to compete in a single elimination tournament to determine a champion for each bracket. The competitions are separated into three divisions/bracket: the gold division for adult and high level high school teams; the silver division for lower level high school or junior varsity teams; and the red division for middle school/ junior high teams.

Concession stands will also be on-site with various food options such as: burgers, hot dogs and authentic Hispanic dishes.

As far as plans for the future, Myers says, “We hope this inaugural event is a success and will continue as an annual event.”
