Booster shots available at RCHD

Eligibility for COVID-19 booster shots was recently expanded to all adults, ages eighteen and over, and appointments for boosters can now be made at all county health department clinics for those who qualify. Receiving a booster shot is an effective way to help maintain immunity, which may decrease over time. To receive a booster shot the recipient must produce their original COVID-19 vaccine card at the appointment, if available, as proof of prior shots of the COVID-19 vaccine being received.

Booster shots of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine are available for those: eighteen-years-old and over; fully vaccinated with two shots of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, and it’s been at least six months since the last shot of either vaccine. Also, those fully vaccinated with one shot of the Johnson and Johnson (Janssen) vaccine are eligible to receive a booster if it has been at least two months since the last shot. The date of the last shot will be verified upon arrival to receive the booster shot.

Mississippi Department of Health (MSDH) also has first and second shots of the COVID-19 vaccine available at the Rankin County Health Department.
