Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon, MS is offering an adoption and foster care class on the first and third Wednesday's of each month beginning at 6:00pm in room 218. This class is to help prepare families who are anywhere in the process from just beginning to think about the process of adoption and foster care all the way to families who have completed their adoptions and are currently fostering.
The class will offer a bible study on the first Wednesday of each month and we will be using the book, "All In" written by Jason Johnson. The third Wednesday of each month will feature a guest speaker in the field of adoption and foster care.
On Wednesday, September 4th, Dr. Rick Morton of Lifeline Children's Services out of Birmingham AL will be our guest speaker. As Vice President of Engagement, Rick Morton shepherds the ministry’s outreach to individual, church, and organizational ministry partners as well as the ministry’s commitment to publishing resources that aid families and churches in discipling orphans and vulnerable children.
Holding both the Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Arts degrees in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Rick taught on the faculty of his alma mater as well as the faculties of Bryan College and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Rick has served local churches in Tennessee, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Rick is an accomplished writer and sought after speaker. Most notably, Rick is the co-author of the popular book Orphanology: Awakening to Gospel-centered Adoption and Orphan Care and the author of Know Orphans: Mobilizing the Church for Global Orphanology.
Rick and his lovely wife Denise have been married for over 26 years, and they have 3 children, all of whom joined their family through international adoption. Rick has also recently gained the title of “Doc” in his new role as a very proud grandpa!
